At Power Utilities Group, we believe in the importance of supporting the next generation as they begin exploring potential career paths. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming two students from Blue Coat Academy in Walsall for a one-day work experience.

A Day of Discovery
The students, eager to learn and gain firsthand experience, were introduced to Power Utilities and its various sectors and how they operate. Throughout the day, they engaged with various staff members, learning about the different roles that make up our team. From understanding the practical aspects of each division to exploring how we manage and execute our marketing content, they were given a comprehensive overview of how we connect with our clients.
Hands-On Experience
We believe that the best way to learn is by doing. So, we arranged a series of activities where the students could get hands-on experience. They shadowed members of our technical team, observed daily operations per divisions from our offices and our warehouse/factory, and even participated in a mini project where they helped to create marketing content. This not only allowed them to apply their classroom knowledge but also gave them a taste of the versatile nature of the company.

A Future-Focused Approach
Our goal was not only to provide these students with a snapshot of a typical day at Power Utilities Group but also to inspire them on their career journey. The world of Power Utilities Group is vast and constantly evolving, with a growing focus on sustainability, innovation, and the transition to up-to-date technology. By exposing students to the dynamic challenges and opportunities of the industry, we hope to spark their curiosity and encourage them to explore these fields further.
A Learning Opportunity for Us, Too
It wasn’t just the students who benefited from the experience. For our team, having fresh perspectives from young minds provided valuable insights into how the next generation perceives our divisions. Their questions and observations reminded us of the importance of staying adaptable and responsive to the changing expectations of future professionals.
Building Stronger Connections with the Community
At Power Utilities Group, we are committed to strengthening our ties with local educational institutions like Blue Coat Academy. Collaborating with schools to provide meaningful work experiences is just one of the ways we aim to support our community. It’s incredibly rewarding to play a part in the personal and professional development of young people and to help them take their first steps into the world of work.
Looking to the Future
As we continue to offer work experience placements and internships, we look forward to welcoming more students from Walsall and beyond. We believe that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, and we’re excited to be a part of their journey.
We would like to thank Blue Coat Academy for allowing us to host these bright young minds and wish the students all the best as they continue to explore their future careers.
