At Power Utilities Group, we are proud to announce that staff from across all our divisions, including Aercon, Filterserve and the wider group, will be taking part in the Black Country Women’s Aid (BCWA) ‘Cut Out Abuse’ Sponsored Walk Challenge. This important charity walk in the West Midlands raises awareness and essential funds for a new refuge for survivors of domestic abuse and modern slavery.
About Black Country Women’s Aid
Black Country Women’s Aid (Registered Charity No. 1032298) is a local organisation offering crucial support to individuals and families who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, child sexual exploitation, modern slavery and human trafficking.
Their work is life-changing. BCWA provides safe accommodation, counselling, advocacy, and practical assistance for people in crisis, as well as long-term support to help rebuild lives. They also deliver advocacy and group support programmes to help break the cycle of abuse in our communities.
By taking part in this charity walk, we are helping to keep these essential services available for the thousands of people who rely on BCWA every year.
What the ‘Cut Out Abuse’ Challenge Supports
The ‘Cut Out Abuse’ Sponsored Walk raises funds that directly support Black Country Women’s Aid services. Donations help to:
- Provide refuge accommodation for women and children escaping abuse
- Supply essential items such as food, clothing, and toiletries for those arriving at refuges with nothing
From the safety and security of refuge, BCWA also
- Provides counselling and emotional support for survivors of trauma
- Gives help and advice with everything that someone might need to start again e.g. going into education, training or paid work, moving schools or finding a new GP, claiming benefits, accessing other support services
Every step we take brings BCWA closer to its mission of creating safe futures for those affected by abuse and interpersonal violence.
